Rules and Regulations

1. The Elaine and Andrew Daniluk Florida Young Artists International Piano Competition (Live/Virtual) is open to contestants of all nationalities and countries. Participants compete in categories based on their age and will be judged based solely on their recordings for the pre-screening and semifinal round, and live performance via zoom if selected as a finalist.

2.  Online Concerto Category and Live Concerto Category Asia Chapter:  The deadline to apply is June 25th 11:59pm US-EST.  The pre-screening results will be notified by email on the evening of June 28th, 2025.  Those who advance to the semifinal round will use the same recording that it was submitted for the pre-screening. No resubmission is necessary and there will be no extra charge for the semifinal round.  The results from the semifinal round will be notified by email on June 30th, and the finalists will be given their scheduled time for the Final Round that will take place on July 12th. The winners of the Concerto Category will be invited to perform in Miami on August 31st, 2025. The movement of the concerto performed for the final round must be the same as the one submitted for the Pre-Screening and Semifinal Round. The Live Concerto competition in Asia will take place at Manabinomori International Junior Piano Institute of Uozu in Uozu City, Toyama-Prefecture, Japan on Monday July 7th, 2025.

3. Solo Category: The deadline to apply is September 1st.  The pre-screening results will be posted on September 6th. Those who advance to the semifinal round will use the same recording that it was submitted for the pre-screening. No resubmission is necessary and there will be no extra charge for the semifinal round.  The results from the semifinal round will be notified by email on September 10th, and the finalists will be given their scheduled time for the Final Round that will take place on September 27.  The Winners' Concert for the solo category will be pre-recorded, and livestreamed in October.  The pieces performed for the final round must be the same pieces that were submitted for the Pre-screening and Semifinal Round.

 

4. All applicants must submit a video recording uploaded to YouTube. The video must contain the full repertoire.  No editing is allowed but the pieces can be recorded in different takes. One or more youtube links can be submitted combining the required repertoire for each corresponding category. All works must be performed by memory.

 Note: The video must clearly show the profile, hands and feet of the contestant. Please dress appropriately since if you are selected as a winner, the video will be livestreamed on the Winner's Concert.

5. Applicants are also required to submit a short biography, a headshot, and proof of age by sending one of the following:

  • Birth certificate

  • Driver’s license or State ID

  • Passport

All Applications will be considered INCOMPLETE until these documents have been submitted.

In the event of a cancellation, the competition will refund the application fee.

6. Repertoire: Free choice of repertoire from different Periods (Baroque, Classical, Romantic, Impressionistic and Contemporary). Categories A, B, C and D are required 2 contrasting pieces from different periods. Category E must perform 3 pieces.  

For the Piano Concerto Division,  the performance could be recorded solo, with piano accompaniment or with orchestra.

 

7. In the Solo Division, the total duration of the video recording is limited. Individual movements of Sonatas and multimovement works are acceptable. Transcriptions by major composers are also acceptable. The age categories and time limit are as follow:

Piano Solo:

Category A: 4-6 (up to 7 minutes)

Category B: 7-9 (up to 10 minutes)

Category C: 10-12 (up to 12 minutes)

Category D: 13-15 (Up to 15 minutes)

Category E: 16-18 (Up to 18 minutes)

 

Piano Concerto (One Movement - Virtual)

Category A: Up to 8 years old 

Category B: 9-13 

Category C: 14-18 

College Category 19 - 25

Piano Concerto (One Movement - Asia Chapter Live)

Junior Category: Up to 12 years old

Senior Category: 13 - 18 years old

8. It is preferable that the Concerto be chosen from the following composers: (Bach, Haydn, Beethoven, Mozart, Chopin and Grieg).  However, due to multiple requests, we are allowing all those who would like to apply to the concerto division category to enter with any concerto of the standard repertoire.  

9. When you submit the Application Form to floridayoungartistsipc@gmail.com with the headline: "application 2025 and your name next to it." Please include your name, the name of the pieces, composers' names and duration. 

YouTube Videos must include in the description: your name, the name of the piece, composer’s name, your age and category and the duration of each piece. Also, the videos must be available for watching online whether as Public or Unlisted.

10. If the duration of the submitted Video exceeds the time limits, as specified in the rules, the jury will only evaluate up to the time limit specified for each category.

11. By participating in the competition, competitors agree to disown the right for any material (financial) remuneration regarding eventual publication and distribution of music video recordings and publications.

The Jury is comprised by well renowned performing artists and pedagogues. All Jury decisions are final and irrevocable.

 12. All First, Second and Third Prize Winners will receive a monetary award. Honorable Mentions will receive a diploma.  Finalists and Semifinalists will receive a certificate upon request. Teachers, (also upon request) will receive a certificate.  Winners of the competition in previous years are allowed to compete again.

13.  Application fee is $110 for solo and $135 for concerto.  If the contestant applies for both (solo and concerto categories) the fee is reduced to $235 for both.
